I am writing to oppose the laying of the Pure Water sewer lines through our University City neighborhood, including along Genesee Ave. to Nobel Drive, the Nobel to Towne Centre Drive then up Town Centre Drive to La Jolla Village Drive. I understand that a 7 foot wide trench will have to be dug and that one lane along each of these roads will have to be closed for as long as it takes to do that job. It will take at least 6 1/2 months to finish just the section from Governor to Nobel. It is already gridlock at rush hours in the morning and evening. With this project, and with the continuing work just north of this project on Genesee on the MidCoast Trolley , the traffic will become almost stationary, and those of us who live in the area will not be abel to get to our homes or out of them for several hours each day, making us virtual prisoners in our own homes

I ask that you consider an alternate route for the sewer line which will not so severely impact those of us who live here at the center of all the booming redevelopment that has been going on for the last several years, and continues in North University City, such as the Westfield/UTC expansion, the MidCoast Trolley and now the 23 story Westfield luxury apartment building just beginning construction immediately adjacent to the proposed Pure Water alignment on Nobel Drive. All the above will bring even more traffic into University City, with no thought given as to how to handle it.

How are we even discussing STRs? How can you contemplate taking any of my property rights away? That is un-American, dare I say socialist or even the c-word. My neighbor rents his house to college students. That is way more disruptive than renting my house to families. But you aren’t trying to take his rights away. Why not? Perhaps his business doesn’t impact your buddies in the hotel business.

I know your husband. He’s an investor. I’m just a guy trying to make a living. Your BS argument that your plan only affects investors is just that, BS. I predict you will get voted out of office if you continue to push these socialist laws taking away citizens rights. I sure hope so.

I’m writing to register my dismay at your decision to disenfranchise me and the other 100,000 voters of San Diego who want the opportunity to vote on the SoccerCity proposal. While I agree with you that this is an important piece of land that many should be interested in, I’m only seeing one actual proposal. Where are the others? Why should I wait for more? Every other developer and politician has had the same opportunity to come up with a solution. (I hope this doesn’t sting too much, but you’re sounding like the Republicans who have been complaining about the ACA for 7 years but then mysteriously have no replacement plan when they’re finally in power.) You know pushing the vote to 2018 kills it, so you’re taking away my power to vote. Your stated excuse that there’s no guarantee of an MLS team so this could end up as “just another development project” is either disingenuous or an outright lie. No MLS team means the project dies. The developers have stated this. The mayor insisted on this. Stop lying to me and your constituents. I’ve been living in San Diego (district 1) for nearly 20 years and I’ve been waiting for a new/better solution for Qualcomm Stadium. If you take this vote away from me, you will be taking away my vote for YOU. I hope you remember that when it comes time for re-election.

Boundaries between the public and the sea lions pupping from La Jolla Cove to the “Children’s Pool” (which should belong to the animals) need to be enforced by the rangers or some sort of fence. What I saw today is a liability for the sea lions, the people (many children) and the city. This needs to be addressed swiftly as people have not displayed reasonable, safe behavior. They are menacing the sea lions. I have a video.

    Dear Barbara ….

If and when you get a chance would like to introduce you to the Coast Walk neighborhood in La Jolla and provide your insight to the trail restoration project. It has been a booming success of neighborhood participation and city partnership to maintain and keep safe for all of the residents of SD!

I believe that child welfare services (CWS) of San Diego County intentionally involves themselves in cases and pretend their is child abuse when there is not. Ex A the Swartwood matter (county paid $1.1M). Ex B the Reynolds matter (not settled after six years of abusing that poor family).

I have studied the finances of San Diego County and see that CWS and department of child support services are profitable for the County, in that they receive more federal funding than is spent. I believe that San Diego County has, as a matter of policy, used abuse allegations to involve themselves in custody disputes so that these agencies may be more profitable.

What will you do about this.

    thank you,

    John Ervin

I have a solution to the sea lion situation, after counting seals for Dr. Reldin for the past year and a half and being friends with doyle hanon the marine biologist, i have come up with a solution that will not only work will take very little manhours and keep the tourists still coming which i would want opening a business in the village. You can contact me by email and i believe this would be an ace in your hand starting out as our new council member.

    thank you,

Your stated position on One Paseo has caused me to re-evaluate my voting for you. I voted for Sherri Lightner and fully intended on giving my vote to you. I can no longer give it to you.

Every day around 4pm I get a call from your call center. From the call log on my cell its the same number & I do believe its the same person as I recognize her voice. Everyday she asks to speak to “Charles” & everyday I tell her that there is “NO CHARLES” at this number. I then ask her to, REMOVE THIS NUMBER FROM HER LIST. Obviously this person DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. Yesterday & today I asked to speak to her supervisor. Both times I have been hung up on.

I then tried to call your offices & all I got was, leave a message and we’ll get back to you.

I’m asking you for the LAST TIME to remove my cell number from your call list.

I will also be contacting the Register of Voter Office in the morning .

Barbara, what is your position on issue of the seals and sea lions in La Jolla? I am a passionate conservationist but I oppose the retention of the pinniped population at its current level, as well as the (illegal, as it turns out) closure of the childrens’ pool. I can only vote for a candidate who will carry out the well expressed wish of the majority of La Jolla residents to restore the childrens’ pool by dredging and to reduce the sea lion population in order to mitigate their disastrous impact on the fish stocks of the marine reserve.

This was on VOSD on April 11, yesterday. Last night I was surveyed on the phone and the things the survey said Ray was for and Barbara was against, sounded like a complete reversal of what a Republican would stand for and what I would expect Barbara to be supporting. And not just the two things below. For example, that Barbara was for One Paseo development and Ray was against big developers.

“Wait a Minute, Ray, What Did You Say?

Ray Ellis, a candidate for San Diego City Council’s District 1, had to do some backpedaling over the weekend for some things he’s said about his main opponent, Barbara Bry.

The U-T reports that Ellis is wrong about Bry on two big issues. His campaign has accused her of wanting to use public funds to build the Chargers a new stadium and also claimed that she didn’t support the city’s appeal of a ruling dismantling a voter-approved pension overhaul.

“I did get ahead of myself,” Ellis told the U-T. “I should have been clearer and I’m sorry.”’

I hope the phone survey is a complete misrepresentation of Barbara’s stand on the issues.

Note in the brochures you sent us in the mail today that you list “Children’s Pool” on your interest list. Looked on your web site & couldn’t find which side you are on concerning this issue.

Are you for the children using the sheltered piece of beach OR are you for the seals who have taken it over?

    Ms. Bry,

I would to hear a clear statement about your position on the Chargers Stadium. Will you support spending our tax dolllars subsidizing a private entertainment business, or will you fight against it!

Where do you stand on construction of the Regents Road bridge? If you won’t do anything about it will you support returning the fee that all of University City homeowners were assessed.

After taking the time to discuss Barbara’s campaign and showing intent to vote for her in the upcoming election, we received a postcard from you. Please remove us from your mailing list as 1) you have our vote 2) we do not make political contributions and 3) this allows you to focus your spending on undecided voters.
